2018 Progress and 2019 Goals

I haven’t done a good job at all at updating this blog regularly, and that’s going to change in 2019. I’d like to do at least one blog post a week in 2019, so I suppose today will be the kickoff to that!

2018 was the year I decided I wanted to write a book. My husband bought me a new computer for Christmas and I wrote three books to various stages of completion before settling on King to be my debut.

My original goal was to publish this in January – until I found out that I was way behind the ball in terms of scheduling time with editors. I was able to find an editor with availability in February, so my new release date for King will be April 2nd.

Following that, I plan to release at least two more interconnected standalones which which will follow the events of the previous books while still standing by themselves.

My ultimate goal is to be a full-time writer. I’d like to quit my day job and work from home, writing and publishing stories of people coming together though difficult situations. With lots of sex.

I’ve been learning at lot through this process and I know I still have much more to learn. I pants-ed my way through King and book 2, but for book 3 I’m going to try to do some basic outlining to help make sure that I keep the action consistent throughout the book as well as avoid scrambling for ideas halfway through the book. I also listen to podcasts regularly to help prepare myself for the more admin side of being an author-entrepreneur.

Finally, I had to learn to make time for reading in between writing. Some days I want to ignore my TBR and just work on my books. But reading is important, not only to keep my creativity up but also to give my brain a break and avoid burnout. I set a goal of reading 100 books this year.

If you made it to the end, thank you, and I hope you stick around. I plan to do some giveaways leading up to King‘s release in April. You can join my mailing list here if you’d like to stay updated via email.

Have a great rest of the week!
